Jewish Cooking web site adds recipes from Kosher Curry and Jews of India

Have you ever wondered what the Jewish population of India makes for Jewish holidays or just struggled to make traditional Indian curry recipes kosher? Elie Chocron was curious and recently came across two great sites featuring Jewish Indian style cooking.
“The Indian Jewish Congregation of USA” (www.JewsofIndia.org) provides news and information to the Indian Jewish community in the US, including traditional recipes and cooking tips. “It was wonderful,” says Chocron. “They had recipes for Jewish holidays that were based on traditional Indian dishes. My favorite was a sweet pastry prepared for Purim, which often coincides with a Hindu festival. Puran Poli is common to both holidays.”

The publishers of KosherCurry.co.uk in the United Kingdom are self-described “curry-holics” who decided to publish their own already kosher curry recipes. Chocron recently came across their web site while searching for a kosher curry chicken dish and found a recipe for Chicken Pathia on their web site. “I made it and we really enjoyed it at home,” he says.

Chocron says he contacted both organizations and asked if he could help make their recipes available to a wider audience. Now you can easily find these great recipes at Jewish Recipe Trader. “We’ve been collecting Indian Jewish recipes for a while and have a good collection of both traditional Indian-Jewish and kosher Indian recipes,” says Chocron. “We hope to find more and we’ll certainly keep looking.”

JewishRecipeTrader.com was founded in 2008 to provide amateur Jewish cooks a way to find and share worldwide Jewish recipes.
