The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater New Haven

The Mission of the JCRC
The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) is the public affairs arm of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven. Its mission is to represent and promote the organized Jewish community’s interests to the general community, both here and abroad; to develop consensus within the Jewish community; and to build coalitions and partnerships among Jews and non-Jews. The JCRC mobilizes the Jewish community to advocate on important issues and interprets those issues for elected officials, the media, government agencies, and other religious and ethnic groups.

Activities of the JCRC

  • Literacy The JCRC provides volunteers to a literacy tutoring project at a bilingual public school in New Haven’s Fair Haven neighborhood. Our volunteers help youngsters master early reading skills.
  • Interfaith The JCRC offers opportunities and forums for the Jewish and Christian communities to discuss interfaith issues raised by current events.
  • Government Relations The JCRC speaks with elected officials about important policies that have potential impact on the Jewish community including church/state and social service issues.
  • Tikkun Olam/Social Justice The JCRC is working through coalitions and partnerships to raise awareness of poverty and other social justice issues that affect diverse groups in Greater New Haven.
  • Israel The JCRC works with local, state and national groups to advocate and educate about Israel.
  • Celebrate 350 The JCRC has joined with other organizations in Greater New Haven to commemorate 350 years of Jewish Life in America.
