The "Designated Hebrew", NY Yankees' Ron Blomberg to speak at Or Shalom
EDUCATION/LEARNING

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Ron Blomberg spent most of his career with the New York Yankees and is best known for being the first designated hitter in baseball.

$5 in advance / $8 at the door
Call the synagogue office to purchase your tickets in advance. Ron will be discussing what it was like to grow up Jewish in Georgia in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He will also talk about being a Jewish professional baseball player in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. Of course, no discussion about baseball in that time frame can be had without talking about playing for the New York Yankees and the famous players on the team at that time. Ron discusses much of this in his book, Designated Hebrew, as well as how the New York Jewish community embraced him.
